What astigmatism is
Astigmatism means the front of the eye is curved more in one direction than the other, a bit like a football instead of a basketball. That uneven curve blurs vision at all distances and can cause eye strain and headaches.
How toric lenses work
Toric contact lenses have different powers in different parts of the lens to match the shape of your eye. They're designed to stay in the right position when you blink, so your vision stays steady.
Lens options
Toric lenses come as daily disposables and as lenses replaced every few weeks. Daily toric lenses are a popular, low-maintenance choice. If you also need help reading up close, multifocal toric options may be available.
Getting fitted
Because the lens has to sit at the right angle on your eye, a careful fitting matters. At your contact lens exam we'll measure your eye, try lenses on, and check the fit and vision before finalizing your prescription.
Signs of uncorrected astigmatism
